Benefits of Online Piano Lessons

How a new generation of musicians is learning

The benefits of a musical education are now as important as ever. Learning an instrument nurtures your inner creativity and facilitates the rediscovery of the lost virtue of patience. Make the most of your or your kidโ€™s free time and learn piano online. It may not only be your next challenge but also turn into your new hobby.

Piano lessons online give you the chance to learn music from the comfort of your home.

Learn to play from anywhere in the world. Wherever you live, wherever you travel to.

Connect with people who share the same passion for music as you do.

Taking online piano lessons from home will save you the time of traveling to and from your teacherโ€™s.

If a student or teacher shows any symptom of illness, online piano lessons can still go ahead via online teaching platforms.

Online lessons demand more concentration from the student. This extra responsibility develops the pupilโ€™s focus.

What you need

A well maintained acoustic piano is ideal. If this is not possible, we recommend to have a keyboard with weighted keys and touch-sensitivity.

Wi-fi connection

A high-speed internet connection assures a reliable communication. Alternatively, an Ethernet cable can offer a more solid connections.

Online platform

FaceTime and Google Duo are two reliable platforms available.

Video calls through screen sharing apps like Zoom and Skype allow you to watch our multi-camera live setup.

You will be able to see your piano teacher and his hands from multiple angles simultaneously so there are no details missed!

Laptop or tablet

The simplest set up is a laptop with a built-in or attached webcam placed next to your piano.

Smartphones can be used too although screens might be too small for this purpose. A tablet will also be suitable.ย

Plug in your device during your online piano lesson to avoid any disruption.ย

Are online piano lessons the same as in-person lessons?

To have a teacher who listens to you through live meetings means you will have a professional pianist guiding your practice, making sure you improve your playing and develop your musical artistry.

When it comes to learning new pieces, online piano lessons are similar to in-person sessions. Even though the teaching approach might look different, the student will continue to polish musical details and learn new music as in face-to-face lessons.

Can remote lessons be as good as in person lessons?

As a matter of fact, given the current amount of online teaching platforms, there is no reason to believe teaching online canโ€™t be as successful as in-person lessons.

Since the teacher has to communicate differently, online lessons can be more engaging for the pupil.

Similarly, it can also be quite revealing for parents to see how the student interacts with their piano teacher.

How should I prepare for my online lesson?

In the same way you would prepare for a face-to-face lesson. Get your scores, pencils and erasers ready and wait for your teacher to video call you. Try your best to keep the room as quiet as possible; background home noises (dish washing, TVโ€ฆ) can actually sound very loud through a microphone.

Does the teacher need my music?

Yes. Students are encouraged to scan their sheet music or send a link to a digital score for their teacher.

How many cameras will I need?

Just one camera placed next to the piano will suffice.

Do parents need to be present?

Although it is not essential for a parent to be present, it may be helpful if you have a child that is easily distracted or who could need help with technology.
